ROB MARCIANO

 
 

Rob Marciano is a news and weather anchor for CNN News Group and is based at CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta.  He joined CNN in May 2003 and serves as American Morning's Weather Anchor. You can catch him on the air weekdays 5am-12pm ET.  Rob also works across the CNN Network as a field correspondent and fill-in anchor.  His reports from the field during Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico helped garner a Peabody Award.  Rob hosted primetime specials including Rescue: Saving The Gulf  where he worked side-by-side with the heroes who saved wildlife, skimmed oil, and cleaned up the beach during the worst oil disaster in U.S. history.

Prior to arriving at CNN, Rob served as chief meteorologist for KATU-TV and 750 KXL News Radio in Portland, Oregon. From 1994-1997, he worked as morning and then chief meteorologist for KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  Rob began his career as a weather anchor for WVIT Connecticut News 30 in West Hartford, Connecticut. Before embarking on a career in television Rob spent three years living and working in New York City as an Equity Sales Trader. He held the Series 7 and 63 brokerage licenses and was responsible for executing trades for institutional investors.

Rob grew up in the Northeast and went to college in upstate New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Cornell University and has the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval. When he’s not chasing storms and covering hurricanes, Rob enjoys the outdoors through skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and playing golf.
